Ampthill and Flitwick Dramatic Society proudly presents "Yes, Prime Minister" at Stewartby Village Hall, Bedfordshire
Yes, Prime Minister by Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn
The original writers of the classic BBC TV series recently reunited for this anniversary production with a new satirical take on Whitehall. Prime Minister Jane Hacker and Cabinet Secretary Dame Helena (Humphrey) Appleton are back, spinning out of control through the collapsing euro and austerity measures in a world of 24 hour news, Blackberrys and 'sexed up' dossiers.
With the country on the brink of financial meltdown the PM is staring disaster in the face with the only apparent salvation in a morally dubious deal with the Foreign Minister of Kumranistan. Will Hacker and a team of advisers be able to rescue the country from the edge?
For something over 60 years, AFDS has been producing theatrical productions in central Bedfordshire. Based in the Ampthill and Flitwick area, we typically perform two shows a year with recent popular comedy productions including Vicar of Dibley, Fawlty Towers, One Man Two Governors, Dick Barton, and Allo Allo.
This amateur production of "Yes, Prime Minister" is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, LTD.

Yes, Prime Minister
The UK is in crisis: debt is spiralling, unemployment is on the rise and the fragile coalition cabinet, led by Prime Minister Jane Hacker, is at breaking point. But salvation may exist in the form of a complex pipeline deal with the oil-rich country of Kumranistan that would entitle the government to a multi-trillion pound loan. When the Kumranistan Foreign Secretary makes a shocking request of Jane's Private Secretary Bernard Woolley, moral considerations collide with the economic future of the nation. But how will Jane and her team: Bernard, Cabinet Secretary Dame Helena Appleton, and Special Adviser Claire Sutton, reconcile the two? Political machinations, media manipulation and an appeal for divine intervention ensue.
From the writers of the original television series Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister, comes the equally sharply satirical stage version.
Stewartby Village Hall
Stewartby Village Hall is a beautiful historic building, built in the 1920s for the employees of London Brick Works.
Now run by a committee of trustees, the hall is a thriving hub of the community.
We have a fully licensed bar, plus a separate kitchen area for teas, coffees, and snacks.
Free Car Parking
The Village Hall Car Park is located opposite the main entrance (next to the Post Office),
plus street parking around the hall. Sadly there is no public transport after the show
A short drive from Ampthill and Flitwick, Stewartby is located just off the A421 road between M1 J13 and Bedford,
within easy reach of Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.
